Some people are at their sharpest at 6:00 a.m., while others don’t hit their stride until after lunch.

There’s no universal “best time” – the key is to understand your natural rhythm and match your tasks to it.

Practical guide

Observe your daily rhythm

  • When do you write best?

  • When are you most focused?

  • When do you feel a drop in energy?

Use a time-tracking tool to record

  • Your working hours

  • The type of task

  • Your subjective energy rating (1–5)

Review your results to spot patterns

  • For example: mornings for creative work, afternoons for admin tasks.

Recommendations

  • Avoid scheduling demanding tasks for times when you’re usually “not in the zone.”

  • Take micro-breaks – 5 minutes of walking for every 25 minutes of focus (Pomodoro technique).

  • Combine time tracking with notes about your mood, the weather, and your work location.

Bonus tip: Once a week, do a quick review. What went well? What didn’t? What changed?
